Police Seize 780 Bags of Heroin After Westfall Drug Deal
Police in Pike County arrested a Port Jervis, NY, woman for selling heroin in Westfall Township, leading to the seizure of nearly $12,000 worth of the drug. A joint investigation by the Pike County District Attorney’s Office, the Eastern Pike Regional Police Department and Port Jervis Police Department began in January after 38-year old Nydia Acevedo of Hammond Street sold heroin to an undercover detective. Police seized more than 700 bags of heroin, $900 cash and authorities estimate she sold upwards of $2,000 a week in heroin in the Matamoras-Port Jervis area. Acevedo faces two felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal use of a communication facility, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. She also faces a felony charge of criminal possession with intent to delivery in New York. She was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail. Read more.
